Xcalak on the Fly is the Yucatan Peninsula’s newest fly fishing lodge based out of Casa Paraiso. At Xcalak on the Fly, our goal is to provide you with the most personalized and all-inclusive fly fishing experience. Our packages and trips were designed by fishing-obsessed father and son duo Jim and Chase Looney with anglers in mind.
Xcalak is a refreshingly undisturbed fishing village nestled along Mexico’s southernmost Caribbean coastline. In Xcalak, lush Mayan jungle meets turquoise Caribbean water. What a great experience my partner and I had at Xcalakonthefly. The fishing, food, and accommodations surpassed everything we had expected or hoped for. Chase and Sarah are great hosts and work hard to make sure everyone has a wonderful experience. Our local guide couldn't have been better. His knowledge of the area and how to get on the fish was perfect for our skill level. What a ideal setting this place is. The rooms are right on the beach with wonderful sunrises. We'll be back!

As the host of Jokers Wild Off The Hook I am always looking for that next level fishing experience and XOTF definitely gave me that opportunity to showcase their amazing tranqiul piece of heaven. What a beautiful location to fish. The abundance of fish, the variety and styles of fishing and the fly fishing is top notch. Hunting fish (spotting and casting) is a thrill and one all fly fishing enthusiasts should look into. Specializing in permit, jack, bone fish and more this is a fly Fishermans dream. I also did some spin casting on windy days and was able to catch plenty of red snapper, yellow snapper, other species of snapper, barracuda, and tarpon. The owners were very helpful on all needs and the staff was great from the knowledge of the guides to the wonderful meals prepared every day. 5 STARS from this review.

Can't recommend XOTF enough! Did a week of guided fishing, but would of enjoyed it just as much if we were just lounging around. The accomodations are excellent and the staff is very friendly and attentive.

Awesome joint! Clean lodging with friendly staff and guides. Plenty of shots at permit every day, great food, great drink and excellent company at the palapa when the fishing day is done. If permit on the fly is your goal there’s no better hosts than Chase and Sarah at XOTF!

I have traveled and fished all around Mexico and xcalak on the fly is the best! My wife and I have fished and stayed here a couple of times. It’s a great operation with experienced guides, a nice quiet, laid back and clean lodge and the hosts chase and sarah made us feel like friends instead of clients. The permit fishery here in xcalak is amazing and we have caught lots of permit right off the dock!

Truly impressed with this world-class fly fishing operation in one of the premier permit spots on the planet. Chase and Sarah couldn't have been more accommodating, their hotel (Casa Paraiso) is lovely, and the fishing was fantastic!! Extremely knowledgable local guide took us to the flats of Chetumal Bay -- very nice boat, top-notch fishing equipment, and lots of wily permit to be pursued. We had a memorable visit and will definitely return.
